Below is an overview of the main referral pathways we support. Each section outlines the types of patients we typically see and how we approach assessment and next steps.
Hearing & Auditory Assessment
For patients experiencing:
- hearing loss or communication difficulty
- tinnitus or sound sensitivity
- auditory processing concerns
- sudden or unexplained changes in hearing
We provide comprehensive diagnostic audiology, including full hearing evaluation, speech testing, and advanced measures to support differential diagnosis and care planning.
Cochlear Implant & Advanced Hearing Pathways
For patients with:
- severe to profound hearing loss
- limited benefit from amplification
- consideration for cochlear implant candidacy
We provide local candidacy screening, including speech testing in best-aided conditions and hearing aid optimization, helping determine whether referral to the provincial program is appropriate.
This supports more efficient use of specialist resources and reduces unnecessary travel for patients.
Tinnitus & Sound Sensitivity Care
For patients experiencing:
- persistent tinnitus
- hyperacusis or reduced sound tolerance
- sensory overwhelm related to sound
We offer structured assessment and support, including tinnitus-focused care, sound therapy, and counselling approaches designed to reduce daily impact.
Balance & Vestibular Assessment
For patients with:
- dizziness, vertigo, or imbalance
- post-concussion symptoms
- suspected vestibular dysfunction
We provide comprehensive vestibular assessment using evidence-based protocols to identify, localize, and quantify vestibular involvement.
Findings support diagnosis, care planning, and referral coordination where needed.
Post-Concussion Hearing & Balance
For patients who:
- continue to experience symptoms after a concussion
- report dizziness, tinnitus, or sound sensitivity
- feel “not back to normal” despite normal imaging
We assess how auditory and balance systems are functioning post-injury, helping identify sensory strain and guide appropriate next steps.
Working Together
We value collaborative care and are available to discuss complex cases or clarify referral pathways.
If you have questions about whether a referral is appropriate, we’re always open to a conversation.
